Using The Grabber™ XTensions

This document provides a brief overview of the Text Grabber™,   Tab Grabber™,  Copy Grabber™ and Print Grabber™ XTensions from Meadows Information Systems, Inc. 

 






What is a Grabber™ ?

The Grabber™ XTensions are a set of four new QuarkXPress tools designed primarily for working with text and tabs, and also for printing. Together, the Grabber™ family of XTensions provide a valuable toolset which makes QuarkXPress much faster and easier to use.

All of the Grabbers™ make use of a unique new “Marquee” method of text and element selection. Forget about drag-selecting the old-fashioned way...just click one of the tools and “grab” what you need to change.

To use a Grabber™ tool, select it from the QuarkXPress tool palette and drag a marquee around the page area you want to change. Fill in a dialog and click OK. The Grabber™ figures out what you selected, and applies your changes automatically! 

Text Grabber™ allows you to modify text attributes anywhere on the page, regardless of which box(es) contain the text. Text Grabber™ is perfect for changing complete columns of text within tabular composition.

Tab Grabber™ lets you Marquee groups of tab stops and adjust them all at once. This includes nudging the tab position, changing the alignment or modifying the fill character.

Copy Grabber™ is used to Cut, Copy and Paste text vertically, even across multiple text boxes. The ideal tool for working with tabular material such as annual reports. Also great for removing bullets at the beginning of a series of paragraphs.

Print Grabber™ gives you the means to select and print any portion of a Quark document page. You can also save the page area as an EPS graphic.


How to use this document: You should start by reading the chapter which describes how to load the XTensions. Then, select the chapter for the XTension you are interested in. To select an individual chapter, use the Chapters menu. If you would like to scroll through all chapters, use the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of this document. Should you wish to print the entire document, please change your Page Setup Options so that the check box for a Larger Print Area has been enabled.
